Why start here?

Understand your position before committing to formal legal costs.

A legal problem rarely arrives neatly organised. Important facts may be spread across emails, letters, contracts, messages and months—or even years—of events.

The Legal Desk brings that information together. We identify what appears to matter, explain the potentially relevant law in plain English and show you the evidence gaps, strengths, risks and realistic options.

01

Know what you are dealing with

Understand the apparent legal issues, the information still required and the decisions that may need to be made.

02

Build a usable case file

Turn scattered documents and events into an organised chronology, evidence record and structured written assessment.

03

Choose the right next step

You may be able to take a focused next step yourself. Where a solicitor or authorised barrister is needed, you can approach them with clearer instructions, organised papers and more focused questions.

This may reduce duplicated preparation and help you use later professional time more efficiently. Any professional subsequently instructed will remain responsible for making their own assessment.

A defined first step—not an open-ended bill.

Start with a £69 Legal Desk Check or choose a £299 Written Legal Assessment.

The Written Legal Assessment provides a fuller assessment of the facts, law, evidence, risks and available options. The exact scope, fixed fee, delivery time and service status are shown before you pay.

Suitable non-urgent matters are assessed before acceptance. Where urgent or authorised legal help is required, we will identify the appropriate route rather than offer the wrong service.

Where we add value

From tangled information to a usable legal brief.

Early-stage support for individuals, founders and small businesses across England and Wales.

05

Early issue-mapping, evidence organisation and specialist handover.

06

Complaints & disputes

Letters, evidence, strengths, risks and proportionate next steps.

How it works

One clear route from problem to next step.

Every matter begins with suitability. You know the scope, status, fee and limitations before deciding whether to proceed.

  1. 01

    Check the route

Choose the area of law and tell us about any deadline. A deadline within seven days is routed to urgent authorised help.

  2. 02

    Explain and organise

Describe what happened, the outcome you want and the important dates, then identify the correspondence and documents.

  3. 03

    Create the secure order

Accept the client documents electronically. The matter, uploads and fixed-price order are stored together before Stripe Checkout opens.

  4. 04

    Use your private case page

Track payment and progress, add documents and download the final Legal Desk Report through a personal passwordless link.

The Legal Desk Report

A decision document, not a bundle of jargon.

The report shows what appears to matter, what is missing and where the realistic choices lie. It is written to be useful to you and to any regulated professional you later instruct.

Court and hearing support

Support where the rules permit it.

Court work is assessed case by case. No fee or attendance is agreed until the hearing, track, client attendance, permitted role and any need for a regulated provider have been checked.

McKenzie Friend assistance

Paid preparation and quiet in-court assistance may be available. You remain a litigant in person; this does not include an automatic right to address the court or conduct litigation.

Small-claims lay representation

A fixed fee may be quoted for an eligible small-claims hearing where the client attends. It does not extend to an appeal, a stage after judgment or another track.

Solicitor-supervised support

Reserved work is offered only through an authorised firm that accepts and controls the client retainer. A cooperation arrangement alone is not enough.

Regulated representation

Fast, intermediate and multi-track cases, appeals, criminal matters and other reserved advocacy are directed to a practising solicitor or an appropriately authorised barrister.

Courtroom assistance and lay representation do not carry the protections of a regulated law firm. The Legal Desk is currently uninsured. Court-support fees are normally not recoverable from the other party. Read the full Court Support page before enquiring.

Clear boundaries

The right help—not the wrong promise.

The Legal Desk is deliberately positioned before, beside or between formal legal instruction. It does not blur the line between unregulated support and reserved legal work.

Within scope

  • Early legal issue triage and unreserved analysis
  • Document and correspondence review
  • Chronologies, evidence schedules and briefing packs
  • Permitted McKenzie Friend and small-claims support after an individual scope check

Not provided

  • Conducting litigation or advocacy without a specific lawful basis
  • Reserved instrument, probate or notarial activities
  • Administering oaths or immigration advice/services
  • Emergency representation or guaranteed outcomes

Standard fixed-fee services are paid online in advance. The required information and confirmations are built into checkout, so there is no need for a separately prepared engagement letter or handwritten signature for every routine order.

Why it exists

Legal training. Commercial reality. Plain language.

Ezrick Evon SaundersLawyer and Founder

The Legal Desk was created after years of seeing people face serious problems without knowing what to ask, which papers mattered or whether they needed a solicitor at all.

Legal foundation

LLB (Hons) and Bar Vocational Course graduate, with strong legal research, analysis and drafting training.

Built from lived business experience

More than a decade across hospitality, property, contracts, licensing and trade-mark matters in Manchester.

Status matters: Called to the Bar in 2012, Ezrick is not acting as a barrister through The Legal Desk. Paid work is limited to an agreed unreserved scope or permitted court-support role. Clients electronically acknowledge the required status information under BSB Rule rC144 before work begins.

Important regulatory information

Independent and unregulated. The Legal Desk is not a firm of solicitors or chambers and is not authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or Bar Standards Board. Work is confined to unreserved services and narrowly defined court-support roles that are lawfully available in the individual case.

Different protections apply. The services are not currently covered by professional indemnity insurance. You have no right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman, and there is a substantial risk that legal advice privilege will not apply. The Client Status Statement is confirmed electronically before work.

Reserved and regulated work is screened. There is no general right to conduct litigation or appear as an advocate. Any small-claims lay representation depends on the 1999 Order and the client attending; solicitor-supervised work is provided only within an authorised firm’s accepted retainer. Read the Court Support page, Legal Services Act 2007 and BSB guidance.

The suitability checker gives general routing information only. It cannot assess limitation, merits or procedure and is not a substitute for advice on an urgent matter. The Legal Desk is a trading name of Ezrick Evon Saunders, sole trader, Office 1, 14-16 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JN.
